Mean Platelet Volume Predicts Severe COVID-19 Illness

چکیده

The parameter mean platelet volume (MPV) is a simple and relatively inexpensive laboratory measure that reliably reflects size. Evidence has been provided increased MPV values may be hallmark of several thrombotic disorders, including acute coronary syndrome, stroke, venous thromboembolism, abdominal vein thrombosis, even preeclampsia.[1] Although the clinical significance this remains only partially unraveled, an enhanced value mirrors presence large (mostly reticulated) platelets in circulation, which are essentially hyperactivated hyperreactive elements, thus justifying their frequent association with vascular thrombosis.[2]

Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) Predicts Middle Distance Running Performance

BACKGROUND Running economy and performance in middle distance running depend on several physiological factors, which include anthropometric variables, functional characteristics, training volume and intensity. Since little information is available about hematological predictors of middle distance running time, we investigated whether some hematological parameters may be associated with middle d...

The association of platelet count and mean platelet volume (MPV) index with types of stroke

Background: Stroke is known to be the third most prominent cause of death in the developing countries and the most common debilitating neurologic disease. This study aimed to investigate the association of platelet count (PC) and mean platelet volume (MPV) index with various stroke types. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on patients over the age of 18 years who presented wit...

Mean Platelet Volume and Vitamin D Level

BACKGROUND Vitamin D deficiency and a high mean platelet volume (MPV) are related to cardiovascular disease. We investigated whether vitamin D deficiency is associated with high MPV. METHODS This study included 434 patients without chronic disease who were not taking vitamin D or calcium supplements. Vitamin D was measured by chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay on the Architect-I2000 s...

Mean platelet volume in patients with prolactinoma.

OBJECTIVE Prolactin is a multifunctional pituitary hormone. The effect of prolactin on platelet activation is not well understood. Prolactinomas are the most common type of pituitary adenomas, and they are medically responsive to dopamine agonists. Mean platelet volume (MPV) is a marker of platelet function and activation. The aim of this study was to evaluate MPV values before and 6 months of ...
